Lovely words Rachel - I often find the noisy people the least generous or empathetic - as you say not worth competing with their rhetoric - just follow your quiet inner voice. Nicely expressed 😊

Rachel, that is such an important thought! I have sometimes stopped, in a supermarket lane, beside the veggies, to watch a young (almost always Asian) man arrange the apples, or pears…with such concentration and care that I can feel the value of the living thing, and his honoring those simple, living things-and I feel better, having stopped. Similarly, at our Farmer’s market, there is a stand of amazingly beautiful Ukrainian cake, and vegetable borscht, and quiches. The woman serving them, who also cooked and baked everything, smiled quietly when I asked her where she was from. She named a city that no longer exists. Her smile and her beautifully crafted foods said everything. I walked on, unable to speak.

A beautiful description of authenticity. Are my actions and my inner voice aligned? A good question to start the day.

I had to remember that parents often tell kids, “Use your quiet voice.” 😊 Thank you!
